Although we are not receiving good fixes on her night roosts, we are still getting good enough signals to track Island Girl south.
After a quick jog to the east in Hudson Strait, she turned south again and flew to Mansel Island. Her signals show her flying across all of Hudson Bay, arriving eventually in northern Ontario, west of James Bay. Recall from former posts that James Bay is famous for its large aggregations of migrant waterfowl at this time of the year.
She flew 919km (571 mi) across the Bay indicating that she is flying hard to the south and covering a lot of ground (or in this case, water).
The point is that she is moving south hard and fast and, although it is too early to say, she may be taking the Gulf route once more.
