Yesterday Island Girl flew SE across the remainder of Nicaragua en route to Costa Rica. This year, she flew the inland route instead of going to the Pacific coast. Her path took her past the eastern edge of Lake Nicaragua and all the way south until she hit the Caribbean coastline just at the border with Costa Rica. She flew another 11 miles down the coastal plain, past the Rio San Juan, until going to roost near sea level in the tropical forest.
She was just over a mile inland from the waters edge and had migrated 333 km (206 miles) during the day.
Again, I think that she must know exactly where she is. How could she possibly miss Lake Nicaragua?
