On Monday, Island Girl increased her elevation and flew south through the high country of the Andes in Chile. She is really putting on the speed now and traveled 374 km (245 miles), nearly reaching the La Serena area.
She roosted 70 km (44 miles) inland at 8,334', pretty high in elevation for this leg of her trip. She slept about halfway between Argentina and the Pacific.
It looks like she will be approaching the Santiago area today and from there it is only a day to get back home to Putu.
So she could be home as early as tomorrow.
