A Slow Day After Her First Long Flight

Island Girl flew just 65 km (41 miles) today, perhaps resting up after her long first flight across the waters. She began to veer slightly to the SSW today and eventually roosted on the ground once more at 1,553 feet in elevation.

This area consists of classic tundra habitat with many small lakes and streams scattered over a broad area not far from the Vachon River.

I imagine she is migrating right along with many other bird species right now, all heading south before the winter snows hit.
