Island Girl flew across the rest of Mexico and crossed the border into Guatemala on Friday. She covered 305 km (190 miles) while flying over the heat of the tropical rain forest. She was traveling SE and appears to be moving across the lowlands.
She roosted in a fairly featureless area with very poor resolution in Google Earth so I can't tell much about the actual roost site. It was located in open, lowland farm fields at 491' elevation, pretty low and I am sure quite warm there. She wasn't too far from the Rio Raxruha.
She is following a middle route at this time, staying away from coastlines for some reason.
I would truly love to know what she is catching and eating in this area.
